Who We Are

“But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress.”
(Isaiah 25:4)

We are committed to honoring God and loving each other in these ways:

Rejoicing in Jesus

In a world of sin and suffering, we rejoice that we’ve found refuge, life from death, through Jesus. We walk joyfully together towards Jesus, seeking to become more like Him and to receive His healing for all that sin has ruined in our lives.

Remaining in Christ’s Word

We are rooted in the Word of God, the Bible, lifting it up as the story of God’s love for the broken world in Jesus Christ. Listening and obeying God’s Word is the primary way our church follows Jesus and learns to love others like He does.

One Church, Many Cultures

Jesus came to save all kinds of people, bringing us back to God and into His Family. We want to worship God here as in heaven, with one voice in many cultures. We love to speak Good News to all peoples in the hope that they join us in praising God.

Sharing & Showing Good News

Body and soul, we are saved by Jesus. He sends us out to boldly share His love with others. And He tells us to show it by loving those suffering, especially the refugee, the widow, the orphan, and the poor.

Finding Jesus

Do you know Jesus? He knows you. He wants you to experience His love, healing, and the power of His resurrection life.

About Refuge

Refuge Church began in response to a burden God’s Spirit placed on Blaine and Anna Hooper as they served the SW Houston community. God showed them the need for more Gospel-centered churches that would share Jesus to this mosaic of native Houstonians, transplants, and first-generation immigrants from all over the world, and especially those who had not heard the Gospel before.

Life Together

We encourage and equip followers of Jesus to worship every day by abiding in Him. We do this through our regular worship rhythms, events and serving beside one another.

Community Care

God blesses us so we can bless others. It is our joy at Refuge to welcome, serve, and empower our neighbors with spiritual, emotional, or physical needs, especially the refugees who have come to our part of Houston.
